Finally, we will end with an intersectionality approach activity where we will actively learn how to use an intersectional approach to solving barriers within your agency (and personal life). The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Jan. 18, 2021, marked the 26th anniversary of the day of service that celebrates the Civil Rights leader’s life and legacy. Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

One way you can make a difference is to provide a meal for the kids in a Lighthouse shelter. Giving lunch or dinner is a powerful reminder for them that someone cares and wants to help them. Meals can be made at home and dropped off or take-out from your favorite restaurant.

Please get in touch with Jordan Ulrey for more information about how you can help. You can reach him at (513) 487-7122 or julrey@lys.org.

It’s more important than ever young people and families in need have the chance to experience the joy of the holidays this year. The pandemic has hit them incredibly hard, but you can be there for them.

Will you make the wish of a young person or family come true?

To keep everyone safe, the Lighthouse Happy Holidays Gift Drive looks a little different. We’ll be collecting gift cards this year instead of items.

Thank you!

Every year, on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, people take the time to kick off the holiday season by giving back to their community. Whether it be donating money to a charitable cause or volunteering, Giving Tuesday is a day set to benefit the community.

Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.

At this moment, Giving Tuesday’s messages of hope, connection, and community have never been more needed. Amid the pandemic, generosity gives you the power to make a positive change in the lives of others.

This year we hope you’ll donate a hot meal to homeless young people by making a $25 gift. We hope to raise $7,500 by the end of Giving Tuesday. We can’t do it without you!
