YP Committee Spotlight: Ebun Taiwo
OCTOBER 15, 2025 — Ebun Taiwo is a volunteer who brings compassion, energy, and a deep sense of purpose with her, no matter the project.
Ebun, an Assistant United States Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice, is a dedicated member of the Lighthouse Young Professionals (YP) Committee. Her journey with Lighthouse began after reading about the Street Outreach Team, which led her to explore Lighthouse’s website and discover the YP Committee—a perfect avenue to get involved and make a difference.
Ebun’s support for Lighthouse is rooted in her faith and a strong commitment to caring for those who need it most in our community. “I support Lighthouse’s mission in providing critical support to youth and families,” she shares. “By volunteering with Lighthouse, I seek to live out my faith in caring for the most vulnerable in our community. Volunteering has also given me additional insights into the challenges facing our youth.”
Over the years, Ebun has participated in a wide range of volunteer activities, each offering meaningful opportunities to connect with Lighthouse youth. While she finds joy in all events that involve direct interaction, a few stand out. “I always enjoy our Valentine’s themed events at New Beginnings,” she says. “I also really enjoyed the recreation day we had with the Youth Development Center where we played games with the boys and they made tie dye shirts.”
Among Lighthouse’s many initiatives, the holiday drive holds a special place in Ebun’s heart. “Nothing beats helping to make the holidays special for the youth,” she says, reflecting on the joy and warmth the event brings to young people during the festive season.
Ebun encourages other young professionals to consider joining the YP Committee. “Join! It is a wonderful way to give back to the community and get to know other young professionals in the city,” she says. Her experience is a testament to the power of service, community, and the impact one person can make when they choose to show up and care.
In addition to her work on the YP committee, she also serves on the Beacon for Youth Foundation Board, further demonstrating her commitment to supporting and uplifting others.
