Foster Children Rise from Despair to “I Know I Can” Do Anything

This spring in Hamilton County, 48 foster care children who persevered child abuse, neglect or other challenges graduated from high school. While the graduation ceremony hosted by Hamilton County Job and Family Services at The Phoenix in Downtown Cincinnati had a party atmosphere Thursday evening, the work will continue for these teens who don’t have a traditional family to support them.

25 year old Laquita Howell,a foster care graduate who is now a mom, JFS worker, and Lighthouse Board member,  told them to never give up on themselves: “Keep telling yourself: ‘I can finish it. I know I can, I know I can.’ ”
