Admission Criteria

Lighthouse Community School is open to students ages 11-22 in grades 6-12 who meet at least one of the following criteria.

  • are experiencing family conflict(runaways);
  • are placed in out-of-home care by Departments of Job and Family Services or other governmental agencies;
  • are involved with the juvenile justice system or other public system;
  • are a Lighthouse Youth Services client (residential treatment, group home care, foster care, independent living, or family outreach);
  • have been expelled or suspended from school more than once in the past year;
  • are currently on IEP’s and have a disability determination of emotional disturbance;
  • who are at least one grade level behind their cohort age groups;
  • experience crises that significantly interfere with academic progress in a traditional school setting.
