PREP Training of Educators Series

If you want to start 2022 by getting your staff trained to deliver the PREP curriculum, we are offering an opportunity to do so over Zoom.

Facilitators must attend all four sessions to become PREP-certified. We can offer up to 12.75 social work/counselor CEUs for the series.

Dates for the sessions:  Feb 15, 16, 22, and 23 from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Please reserve your spaces quickly, as these dates and times are subject to change based on the needs of our attendees.

If you want to attend but these dates/times don’t work for you, reach out to us! We will do what we can to make training possible for your organization.

Topic: Beyond the Birds and Bees

This session will increase your knowledge of Ohio’s sexual health policies, practices, and statistics.
You’ll also leave with strategies and resources for answering young people’s questions. 2 CEUs for
current Ohio social work/counselor licenses are available for this training.

Topic: HIV Prevention and Awareness with Caracole

HIV prevention is an important element of the PREP curriculum. Caracole will cover the HIV lifecycle,
local epidemiological trends, and current HIV treatment and prevention options. Caracole provides
services in most of District 4, so feel free to come with questions about their programming.

Topic: Mindfulness with Elliot Kesse of Change Yoga

Come practice mindfulness and relaxation techniques that you can share with your clients. Begin to learn how to connect to your body and reduce stress with simple, yet effective, techniques. Learn how to adapt techniques to individuals and empower them to continue to develop their own practices.

One lucky attendee from the meeting will receive a copy of the book,  Embodied Resilience Through Yoga: 30 Mindful Essays about Finding Empowerment After Addiction, Trauma, Grief, and Loss. Our presenter has an essay in this book!

Join us for the Lighthouse PREP (Personal Responsibility Education Program) September coalition meeting and training!

A critical aspect of PREP is helping young people gain the skills to have healthy relationships and understand when relationships are not healthy. Women Helping Women will help us gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics of intimate partner violence. The event is held via Zoom. Join us for the Lighthouse PREP (Personal Responsibility Education Program) June coalition meeting and training!

In June, we will offer Lighthouse’s Safe and Supported Youth training to learn more about LGBTQ identities and how to support LGBTQ young people.

Join us for the Lighthouse PREP (Personal Responsibility Education Program) May coalition meeting and training!

The Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center will provide training about human trafficking. The IJPC will cover what human trafficking is, the conditions that contribute to the problem of human trafficking, and signs to look for. The event is held via Zoom.

Join us for the Lighthouse PREP (Personal Responsibility Education Program) April coalition meeting and training!

This training will focus on the concept of intersectionality and how it affects the work you do. We will begin with some identity formation work followed by exploring the concept and history of intersectionality. Finally, we will end with an intersectionality approach activity where we will actively learn how to use an intersectional approach to solving barriers within your agency (and personal life). The event is held via Zoom.
