Getting to the Youth Crisis Center

lighthouse The Youth Crisis Center is located at 3330 Jefferson Avenue in Clifton. The telephone number is 513-961-4080.

If you have run away from home or have been ejected, thrown out, or locked out of your home or have some other emergency that keeps you from being at home (parents missing, parent suddenly hospitalized or in jail) you may seek shelter at the Youth Crisis Center. If this is a real emergency – for instance, you are afraid someone is about to hurt you or otherwise endanger you - call the police at 911 immediately. If the police believe that the situation warrants it, they may choose to bring you to the Youth Crisis Center themselves.

To reach the Youth Crisis Center by bus:

All of the buses listed below run from downtown. If you live in an outlying area you may have to take a bus downtown and then transfer to one of these buses. If this is unfamiliar to you or you have questions, call the youth crisis line at 513-961-4080 and ask for assistance.

Bus 51 – Exit bus on Jefferson in front of the Youth Crisis Center.

Bus 17, Bus 18, Bus 19 – Exit at the corner of Clifton Avenue and Ludlow Avenue. Walk away from the Clifton shopping area on Ludlow. As the road curves around Burnet Woods (the big park on your right) the street name becomes Jefferson Avenue. The Youth Crisis Center is across the street as you come to the end of the park.

Bus 78 – Exit the bus at the intersection of Vine Street and Nixon Street. Nixon is called Goodman on the opposite (East) side of Vine. Walk down Nixon away from the hospitals. After several yards the road curves around to the right and becomes Jefferson. Walk past the restaurants until you come to the Youth Crisis Center.

To use Project Safe Place:

If you cannot get to the Youth Crisis Center by bus you may be able to find a Safe Place location. These are usually grocery stores (Kroger’s) or restaurants (LaRosa’s) that have Project Safe Place signs prominently displayed. If you go into a store with a Safe Place sign ask to speak with the store manager and she or he will help make arrangements for you to get to the Youth Crisis Center.

If you are stuck in the middle of nowhere:

If you are stuck with no Safe Place location close by you may call the youth crisis line at 513-961-4080 and request transportation. You will be asked to go to a well-lighted, open place of business. Under no circumstances will Youth Crisis Center staff pick you up from a private place of residence. Please note that the Youth Crisis Center does not always have sufficient numbers of staff available to do this.
