Since 1969, Lighthouse Youth Services has received national recognition as an innovator
in services for families in crisis, housing for homeless teens, group homes for young
people who need a therapeutic environment, and
foster care for abandoned and abused children. Lighthouse operates the area's only direct access, around-the-clock sanctuary for homeless, abuse, and neglected youth and a juvenile corrections program with more than twice the success rate as traditional
institutions.
At any given time, there are over 400
children, youth, and families in our residential programs. Each day, Lighthouse social workers and outreach workers serve over 1,000 children and families in our various home visitation programs. Altogether, last year we served over 4,000 young people and families. Central to their lives are concerns about hunger, homelessness, loneliness, and safety.
Lighthouse is a national leader in children's services. Staff members author nationally published books and articles, frequently present at national conferences and consult with states and agencies nationwide.
Because of Lighthouse, troubled youth and families have an opportunity for better, brighter lives, and we enjoy a better, more livable community.
